Spring Sprain

I have an ouchie. The vet says I sprained my leg and now I have to take anti-inflammatory medicines for a week. Here is what happened. On Thursday night I went all cracker dog when I met my golden retriever neighbor dog. I hadn't seen him since fall and we ran/bounced over the place. I probably ran around for 15 minutes. Then on Friday I seemed a little stiff in the morning. Now this isn't out of the ordinary for me cause I sleep in a ball all night, but I'm usually fine in a few minutes. On Friday night Momma and Dad were all worried cause I was limping a little on my back leg. I yelped a couple times when trying to get comfortable in my crate at bed time. They brought me up on the bed and could tell my leg was hurting me. So Saturday morning I went to the vet. My vet squeezed me in at the end of business hours cause Momma thought I needed an x-ray. The vet says based on what I did and the reactions I was giving it was my muscles/tendons not my hip. Whew. No x-ray cause that requires anesthesia when the hips are involved (cause of all the weird positions they put you in). Anyway my vet did all kinds of rubbing/massage/ bending of my leg. We went home and I am on mandatory rest for 2 weeks! I spent 2 hours laying in the sun yesterday but I was too sore to get on the couch. Momma had brought the futon mattress out for me to lay on since it hurt to get up on the couch. Poor me.

Poor me.... ouchie leg ... no couch .....

This morning I am feeling better but Momma says that's the drugs talking. I am able to get up on the couch so she let me do it. My day is going to consist of sleeping, but that is pretty normal anyway. The vet said no off-leash for 2 weeks. Momma asked him and he said I can still go to class on Wednesday night since it is my graduation class. Just no playing with the other doggies. I'm starting to think there is an ouchie epidemic going on with us Danes. Kasha, Murphy, and Duchess be careful. Honey, Darwin, and I have already caught it.

  1. Awwww Tucker that just stinks like Cat Crap. An Ouchie and No Couchie. I'm sooo very much sorry that happened to you buddy. Keep us posted on how things are going.

  2. Poor Tuck, Mom is always worried that I'm going to get an ouchie too. Last week, I was zooming at the park and the weeds are super tall so I took a tumble. When I got up, I was limpin front leg hurt sumthin fierce! She leashed me up right away and massaged my leg and had me 'walk it off'...and after about 10 minutes it felt better. She still wouldn't let me run around anymore though!

hope you feel better soon. Make sure to milk it for all its worth and ask for lots of foodables to make you feel better.

  3. Tucker, we're sorry to hear you hurt your leg. We're cracking up about you mom pulling down a futon mattress for you to lay on! They really love you.

    Stella, Gunther and Betty

  4. Feel better Tucker!! Enjoy big comfy bed!!

  5. Oh no Tucker not you too! Not the dreaded 2 week bed rest! I feel your pain! At least it's just a sprain and not something bigger! Getting sedated and taking x-rays was no fun at all, let me tell you!
    Rest up and heal quickly!
    Love, Darwin

  6. get better soon, tucker! that was very nice of your mama to bring out the futon mattress for you.

  7. We're staying extra careful around here! Hope you get better soon Tucker!

  8. Oh no!

    Please take it easy!

In my house right now the tables would probably be turned with my khousin Merdie The Golden Retriever being chased by the khrakher Siberian Husky dog!

  9. Ouchies! Sorry to hear all that. Maybe tomorrow you can manage the couch
    Get well soon!

  10. get well soon. futon mattress doesn't sound that bad.

  11. Oh help! Where did my comment go? I wanted to tell you to be careful because it is easy to twist your leggies all bouncing about. Happens to me several times each year and I have to take the anti in flame stories and rest.

Also, that my vet has a new relaxing drug that is less bad than full annette seize ya for taking x-rays. Just a thought.

  12. OH NO! 2 WHOLE WEEKS! The horror! but you better do what your momma and the v-e-t say because they are smarter than we think they are...well...sometimes...

    Wags and Woofs,
    Mack and Mia

  13. Oh, you poor guy! No fun to have the ouchies, but a least it looks like you are getting star treatment (your own futon!?!?). Hope the 2 weeks go by fast, but soak up all the extra special lovin' in the mean time!
And thanks for putting a little button in your sidebar for Flat Brutus (great idea!!!). He's gotten a little closer, and I hope he's worth the wait!!

    Brutus the Frenchie

  14. Oh Murphy! You too??!! You're right - it IS an epidemic! But so unfair - you only have to reest for 2 weeks? How come I have to rest for 6??!! OK, I know I'm a lot older than you but still!

The vet here didn't give me any medicines for my leg ouchie - just said no playing or running for 6 weeks - what kind of crap treatment is that?! But I guess maybe my ouchie isn't as bad as yours coz I don't yelp at all and it doesn't hurt me to do anything - in fact, I'm still trying to do everything and I would if my stupid humans wouldn't keep stopping me!!

    Hope you get better soon!

    Honey the Great Dane

  15. Tucker, Thank you for visiting. I am NOT a chew toy. But I am delicious. Take my word for it.
Now, please get some omega caps for your inflammation. Much better that caca like Rymadil.. :) Come back any time and I will be seeing your blog frequently.
