I is an only child

Ok, ok, when you don't count the kittehs I is an only child.  Navajo had to go back to the daycare/kennel foster.  Turns out she has this thing called separation anxiety and would whine every time Momma was outa sight.  Plus, she escaped the crate the first day the hoomans went to work - we ran around loose in the house unsupervised all day.  (Momma says it's a miracle we didn't get hurt, hurt each other, or destroy anything).  So, the next days she tried to get out of the crate that now had wire ties on it.  In the process Navi was hurting her nose from pushing on the crate all day.  Also, she was resource guarding and scaring me.  The resource was food, and Momma.   I had to make big loops out around her and I couldn't go near Momma.  So Momma had to take her back so she wouldn't get hurt.

I was so tired from not sleeping...... Seriously look at my eyes.....

But, everything is back to how it use to be and it looks like I won't be getting a sister anytime soon.  We'll try fostering at another time.

In other news, I spent the weekend sunbathing....

  1. Oh noes, that do be such a shame. We has fostered some dogs with the separashun anxieties and it do be our worstest nitemare. One woz so bad the only thing mom woz allowed to do out of his site woz take a showah. She woz tempted to leave the water running and sneak out the bafroom window to go to the store but woz afraid if'n he catched her, she would not be allowed to take showahs any mores. Some dogs just has the demons in their brain like that. Go catch up on your naps now.

  6. Aw! I'm sorry your foster sister couldn't stay longer. Seperation anxiety is really difficult to deal with! And not letting you near momma? That's just ALL wrong!

There will be next time. DOG knows we won't be running out of animals that need a foster home, any time soon.

It was truly wonderful of you and your family to open your home to Navajo.

  14. Fostering is a very tough job. You and yer moma need to be on the same page. She is looking out after you - Tucker big dog. She loves you very much. There will be plenty of other opportunities to be a big brother for a dane in need.

  16. don't be sad Tucker. I'm sure a brudder or sister will come along with the time is right.

Mom took me to meet a cute girl this past weekend. She was 2 just like me, but her family couldn't keep her. I really liked her, but Mom could tell it wouldn't be a good match. Both of us are bossy kind of dogs. Mom says I need a dog whose good at takin orders from me, cuz I'm definitely not good at taken orders from other doggies!

Sounds like your pawrents are bein smart and not tryin to force a situation that might bring trouble.

keep looking...you'll find a sibling out there eventually!

  20. Poor Tucker! It's unfortunate that she had to leave, but thank goodness no one got hurt along the way. It sounds like Navajo was a pretty strong-minded girl! Sunbathing after all that stress is just right.

  24. Hi Tucker - sorry your foster sister didn't work out but it sounds like she may need a "special" home to help her work out her issues - and it's all a bit too stressy for you!

We can totally empathise coz my humans also tried to adopt an adult kitty once, back in Auckland, and it was very stressy to Lemon coz they kept fighting all the time and the new cat was bullying her, until she almost left home! And I kept getting caught in the crossfire too - scary! We tried for 6 months but in the end we had to take her back to the rescue shelter for her to find another home. My humans felt so guilty about doing that but their first loyalt was to me & Lemon and we were just miserable...

...so now they think 1 cat & 1 dog is the best balance!

  27. Tucker! Keep looking. You will find a sister that suits you and your family. Your mom did the right thing because finding a doggie that is a good friend for YOU is the most important thing (even if it turns out to be a dorky black lab).

  28. Hi Tucker, it takes a special doggie to make a good bruder or sister. I went through three of them, until I found a bruder that knew went to stand up and when to back down from me. When he went to Rainbow Bridge, I laid in the sun a lot too. Sure feels good!
