My Big Ice Fishing Adventure

(I'm a sled dog, BOL!)

Last weekend almost all the family came to visit and we went Ice Fishing. I've never been Ice Fishing before and Momma was a little worried about my clumsy self being on the ice. Anyway, she bought me non-slip Paw Wax and put in on my front feet. I was very careful in the morning and didn't run at all. Also, I never fell down - that is a huge accomplishment for me since I am so clumsy still.

Ok, so ice fishing was brand new to me and may be new to some of you doggies out there. Let me see if I can explain.

We went to the pond, but I couldn't drink the water it was hard and cold - they call this ice. I could actually walk on it. It was slippery at first cause it was like 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) outside. I walked really slow and wore my coat.

Dad made these perfect little round holes in the "ice" and the regular pond appeared.
Then he put these sticks in the hole and told me not to touch them.
The next step of ice fishing is to go back to shore and find a nice patch of sun the lay in. I found sticks of my own.

Then you eat hot-doggies. (Kind of like Frankie but not the same...)

Then everyone yells flag and goes back out the sticks in the hole.

The next part is the scariest. Weird floppy smelly toys come out of the hole!!! I wasn't allowed to play with them but dad was. I was able to sniff them and they smelt terrible. Dad put the floppy toys back in the hole. These are eventually called fish.
So then you go back to shore and lay in the sun and eat again, then back out to the holes, repeat, repeat.

It was pretty exciting and a couple hours after we arrived it warmed right up (to like 45 degrees) and the ice was a little mushy on top. I didn't have to wear my coat and I could actually run on the ice a little.

I had a lot of fun. Have any of you doggies ever gone ice-fishing?

This week's random updates

Just to clear things up about my wordless Wednesday post. That Dane isn't actually me, but we do look very similar. And, if I lived out in Hollywood I would consider being a Model but there aren't any jobs out here in Maine. Besides, I would need an agent right? Where would I get an agent?

I've gone back to school now. Momma and Dad are taking back to obedience training for 6 weeks. I had loads of fun and was somewhat challenged. There was this scary long ramp and table I had to walk up sit on and walk down. I think it may be agility related? Anyway, it was scary but I managed to do it. Momma and Dad were surprised, since I am a big wimp and all. Momma seems really excited about this training facility. It is much further away then the class I took before but this one has more classes. There is basic obedience which I am in, advanced obedience, rally, agility, puppy classes, Doggie CPR classes, tricks classes, loose leash & recall classes, and Rally-o. After I finish the obedience class the Advanced class is a continuous drop-in class. So, all year long when Saturday (aka Tucker Day) comes around and the weather is not outside adventure weather I can go to class in the morning, cool huh?

Oh, and last week was surgery day....

Before:
and After:
I am most helpful as you can see.

Oh, and I've got to go next week for my annual check-up and vaccines. Momma is trying to learn more about the Lyme vacccine. I'm on frontline year-round but lots of doggies that aren't on anything are getting Lyme disease. Momma is a little nervous about the vaccine giving me sickies and if it even will help. Do any of you doggies out there get the Lyme Vaccine? I only have gotten the rabies, distemper/parvo, and kennel cough vaccine. Don't worry Momma will still ask my vet.
Until next time - Chill

They Love Me

Thank you all for your concern about my mean Momma. I must let you know that she does love me and I guess I am her valentine after all. On Saturday I spent the whole day with Momma and she took me to the doggie park & bought me a cheeseburger.

Then on Valentine's Day I got this from Momma & Dad:

And these from Grammy:

COOKIES!!!! (see the drool spots.... he he)
And yes this heart says Tucker on it.

See, I love Momma... Smooch!

What do you mean no Valentine?

Momma has just informed me that she isn't my valentine. What, since when can Mommas not be valentines? I'm gonna have to ask Grammy instead.

Back to old Habits

Momma came home to this last Friday, she was not impressed. I decided to destroy my comforter while she was at work. I didn't bother it for two weeks but I like to keep her on her toes. I'm back to just fleece blankets on my Kuranda bed now. I only get a comforter at night again. Sigh.

Working Dogs

Don't forget to vote at Mango Minster for the Workin' Dogs. That's the category I'm in, but there is a lot of good competition and I'm a rookie so I don't mind if you vote for some of the harder workers. Momma says I half a** a lot of stuff anyway. I have no idea what she's talkin about. I mean I took full advantage of my 3 seconds of tv fame:

I excelled at flyball (I mean I know I didn't have a ball but I handled the jumps)

And so what if I got us all lost in the corn Maze?

After all just cause you work hard doesn't mean your successful, right?
